Final Cut Pro - basic (hopefully) Ripple Delete query

  When I try to delete clips out of the timeline the rest of the clips after it on the timeline are automatically shifting down, as if it was doing a ripple delete. Normally you need to hold shift and delete to do this but I seem to have changed a setting somewhere that has caused ripple deleting to be the default.

  Can anyone give me any help as to how I would change this setting back to normal (not wholly sure exactly what it is I have done), or how I resolve this it would be much appreciated.
