Apple Gains Market Share

  According to a report on CNET , IDC calculates that strong sales of the new iMac moved Apple to the #9 spot among PC makers in worldwide unit sales and that Apple increased its share of the US market to 3.7 percent in the first calendar quarter of 2002. Apple increased its unit shipments at a time in which worldwide unit shipments decreased 2.7 percent.

  This bodes well for Apple moving forward, but the company has a long way to go to match its 1996 US market share of 6.7 percent.
