[quote author=“macinnerd”]Woah. I’m speechless.
Where was the photo taken?
What, my picture? Aw shucks.

It was at a small lake near Eugene, Oregon. I went with Louie (L0u13 from the forums) to take photos of him and a couple friends waterskiing. I think I was on a boat when I took it.

Cool. I really want to go see Oregon one day. I’m hearing so many good thing about it.

Nice, I’m a sucker for shots of big cities at night.

Thanks. I took that shot on National Day (October something over here), and many buildings pulled the stops when it came to lighting that night.

My brother- and aunt-in-law are visiting from England-land, so we took them down south (means something completely different to what it does in USAria).
I did all the driving, and everyone else did all the photography. But after a day or two, when we were in Dunedin , I asked one of the blokes in the Mac shop where he would recommend to buy a camera. Twenty minutes later (fifteen of which was spent walking there) I had a Canon PowerShot A720 IS. 8 megapixels. 8 megapixels!
Now I’m a crap photographer. I have little or no idea about apertures and ISO ratings and all that sort of stuff. I point. I shoot. I load into iPhoto.
And it comes out like these two photos, of which I’m rather pleased.
Lake Wakatipu , taken from Bob’s Peak, looking towards Glenorchy at 9:06pm. Another shot at 9:07 didn’t work.

I like the lake shot a lot, Laurie.

This isn’t a very good photo, but that’s kinda the point. Rosie, a thirteen-week-old fox terrier/miniature schnauzer, was sitting in my lap while I was trying to write up a presentation. With her jaw resting on the space bar, it made it difficult to do any work. And difficult to take the photo!
