FUD supreme.

OMG I cannot believe they actually printed this: “New York quotes an anonymous friend of Jobs saying of the Apple CEO: “I think he may want to do something else.” The friend then makes the wild prediction that Google is going to buy Apple and that Jobs will walk away from the business.
If believed by investors, the comments from the friend may have quite an impact on Apple stock tomorrow.”

Yeah, right.. that would be Doug “Steve is resigning from Apple at MacWorld due to his cancer” Kass, a very close personal friend of Jobs, would it? What bullshit!

Or maybe its Fred Hickey, another well known personal friend of Jobs, right? roll eyes

It is truly incredible how the hype and hysteria is being whipped up by the FUDmeisters. Don’t forget, the New York Post was the same “newspaper” that carried the story “from a reliable but anonymous source” that DELL were buying PALM, sending PALM stock soaring to the stratosphere on the news. Which turned out to be a rumour put out by a third-tier broker and totally without any truth at all.

Didn’t the New York Post also have the story about MS buying Yahoo?

Isn’t the Post owned by that old fool Rupert Murdoch?  Notice that so called friend of SJ is not named nor is anyone else. Typical yellow sheet journalism…. complete crap. but I hope for more of this stuff as it is great for us investors…. scare the cows and let the bulls have the range to itself and then let the cows back in…

When reading some of these stories regarding iPhone “concerns”, I can’t help but wonder why those with the concerns don’t consider the fact that SJ and the Apple “team” PROBABLY considered them (DUH).  Apple is not a NEW company with NO understanding of what their customers and potential customers want.  I really wish they would just release some *real* information to dispel much of this naysaying, poor journalism and FUD.  roll eyes

very good points…. SJ said in January that they had been working on the iPhone for 2 1/2/ years. That means that Apple has had three years to think about all the features and potential roadblocks for this instrument and moronic bloggers and journalists assume they are smarter than the most innovative tech company of this century?.... laughable

TSC call Fred Hickey out on his stupid Barron’s comments re: AAPL and RIMM

Michael Comeau
Fred Hickey in Barron’s
6/18/2007 9:23 AM EDT
I noticed some awfully odd comments from Fred Hickey in the Barron’s Roundtable this weekend.

First, Mr. Hickey makes bizzarely contradictory statements about the iPhone. He gets the first part right - saying that “This is a product no one has tried.” Now let’s think about that statement for a while. No one has tried. That means nobody really know how good it is. Nonetheless, Mr. Hickey determines that “The keyboard is unusable for e-mail.” Scratching my head on that one.

He also says “They guided revenue estimates lower” even though it is quite well-known that Apple lowballs guidance.

And on Research In Motion (RIMM), he says “RIM has focused on the business market, but now is targeting consumers, which is bad.” Bad? Yeah, that Pearl was such a disaster, and the Curve will probably be one too. (Attention TSC editors, is there HTML code for sarcasm?)

Actually the whole of that Forbes article is pretty Fuddy - From the front page:

We have no confirmation on the chatter, just passing along why shares are suddenly weaker.

Apparently the display is so clear and easy to read that owners will want to stare into depths for long periods of time, thus causing a mixture of eye strain, loss of productivity and unemployment.

Sunlight can be worked around. My Nokia N70 works fine in strong sunlight. I believe that it works by havinga reflective screen behind the LCD, to use sunlight to display an image instead of competing with sunlight.

However the big disappointment with all these comments about the iPhone is that nobody has actually used one. It is all speculation, some of it intelligent and other certainly not, peddled as fact.

In other news, Pope Benedict XVI was seen mumbling about his chambers this morning. A probable sign of his failing health and mortality, it is a harbringer of doom and gloom for Christianity.

Is there any salvation left to go around?
