I had a feeling it might be something like that. I’m glad it now works for you.

I used to use the Schubert plugin until Adobe Reader stuffed it up. I then chose not to install Adobe Reader in future as OS X’s PDF reading is perfectly adequate for my purposes.

Don’t we all. Three words: Google Desktop Search (GDS)

I haven’t loaded it myself on my Mac, but on my work PC the web history search feature is golden. There is also the Web History feature of your Google account which you can turn on by loading the Google Toolbar into Firefox, but then you can’t use Safari and capture your history. That is why the browser independent GDS is the better way to go.

Even if Apple does this themselves eventually, it probably wouldn’t be as good as Googs algorithms.

Daniel Eran comments in his blog, Roughly Drafted, on a spat brewing between Mozillan and Apple.  He makes the point that Apple and Mozilla have a common strategic interest and that Safari is not attempting to profit from at the expense of Firefox.

I don’t see a conflict other than the two products are IE alternatives. Apple has a defined product strategy that requires the release of Safari for Windows.
