I do like the idea of real time AAPL quotes although I doubt this is doable.

couldn’t we embed the real-time quotes from i-net?

[quote author=“Tommo_UK”]Is anyone concerned that the addition of an options sticky might detract from the “common room” of the Intraday Topic? How do prospective posters see such a topic being used, and would we simply see day-to-day conversation regarding the direction of the stock split between two topics, which wouldn’t do anyone any favours?

I for one would not like to see the community “glue” of the Intraday topic weakened, but the demand for an Options sticky is clear. Thoughts on the name, and precise purpose, of any proposed options sticky topic please smile

Actually options strategies can change with the market and stock movements. I for one wouldn’t reduce my time on the intraday thread because it’s the most frequently updated. I keep the intraday thread in one dedicated tab by itself and use two other tabs for all the other AFB threads as something interesting arises. For me the main reason - and it’s not a big one - to make the options thread sticky is for ease of finding when there haven’t been any posts for several days. FWIW, when i notice there’s a new posting in the options thread, i read it in any case - and it’s not sticky now.

BTW, in the same vein, I’d also be interested in seeing a CFD thread discussing the hows & whys of strategies (as opposed to simply saying “I’m making this trade at this time”).

Please, please, PLEASE no animation.  I have flash disabled on my comp to avoid all the annoying flash advertisements which seems to be the predominant use of flash IMO.  At least animated GIFs can be stopped using the ESC key.  Ads, avatars, and the like continuously in motion is one of my least favorite aspects of surfing the web.  Ever try reading a rather boring technical document while a flash ad loops in motion next to it that can’t be stopped?

Good points. As I said, I value the information more than the decoration.  smile

How about a favorite threads list?!

It would work even better than email notification for me, and would help to keep important dialog going in one thread.

Some threads call for real thought before replying.  Waiting until I get home and have the time to write means I sometimes forget to give a timely response to a thread and only remember a few days later.  With a favorites list I can pick up just where I left off.

Sticky Topics do not give a visual indication when they have new posts.

Regular thread icons change color when new posts have been made, and sticky topics should do the same.

Right now I have to click on the Breaking News thread to see if there is anything new.

Great!  What is that indication so I can make use of it?  Thanks!

And speaking of thread icons, anyone know why some threads have a shadow under the thought bubble and others don’t?  Thanks!

OK, never noticed that.  A little inconsistent with the way thread works, but it will do for me.  Thanks!

EDIT:  Ahh, I’m much happier now…

Thanks, incorrigible, you’re absolutely right.

Apparently, as this thread proves, my BB IQ sucks! bug eyed  dunce

To prove the point even more, I just now noticed the orange page and arrow icon next to threads with new posts.  I look, but do not see…<sigh>
