It seems clear that the iPod line will get a refresh in time for Christmas.  I’d like to hear some thoughts on what it will be like.

For me, I am confident the full size iPod will be full screen, just like the iPhone, and probably a little wider. All virtual controls running OS X, as an analyst recently predicted.  I don’t think it will run individual widgets like the iPhone, or be able to browse the Internet, etc., as Apple will want to keep the two product lines differentiated.

I think it will still be a hard drive-based unit, too.

Not sure what to expect for the iPhone nano.  No need to change much on the shuffle line, with the exception of capacity.

6G iPod

I agree with Bryan.  I think the high end 6G iPod will have a good sized
hard disk (120 GB) for people who carry a lot of video around and
also have a healthy sized screen. The screen will flip
for video just like the iPhone.  But no WiFi or FM receiver
in order to keep it as a non-radiating device.

It’ll be a simple, powerful video machine for movies, TV and music that
will promote the iTunes Store money machine.

It may well have the (patent applied for) anti-theft technology in which it is
married to a particular charging system and won’t charge
without it.

It will certainly have the new music and album art display/selection system
based on the iPhone and Mac OS X.

That should be enough to get people moving who never jumped
to a 5G video iPod and put the Christmas sales numbers off the charts.
