[quote author=“Mace”]Alcatholic,

I don’t get your revelation?

Yeah, I didn’t write it down well, but I don’t think it is a very important point.  I was really just writing down a notion that came to me, more a rough personal journey entry than a public discussion. So, sorry for the confusion!  innocent

[quote author=“Mace”]Apple is not engaging a platform war with anyone.  It is building the digital lifestyle platform for its future ‘revenue sharing, cloud services and ad revenue (cuts)’ business model.  In this business model, $ is not made by licensing OS and standards (patents).

Yeah, this is a good way to put it.  It is building something, and hoping the people will come, and so far they are.  It is an honest effort, what you see is what you get, and consumers can make a choice if they trust Apple.

I guess my point is that ultimately that kind of transparency and honesty works much better in this day and age, than a lot of scheming and hidden agendas regarding platform technologies and trying to use whatever power you amass in one area to shovel crap onto the market in another area (old MS model).  Maybe that is a useful perspective.  roll eyes

Read the article on Facebook by Umair.  I think Facebook should sell itself to Yahoo! or any suitors.  At this rate, Facebook might face the same fate as PointCast.

Ironically, Yahoo! gets it worse than anybody in Umair’s posts. smile  He accuses them of total incompetence when it comes to innovating new business models.

I’m thinking of the billion dollar offer.  Zuckerberg should take the $ and run.
