I think the only news that will drive aapl up from now on is data showing robust sales of iPHones following price cuts.

that and of course data showing that the economy is doing OK.

Last night I checked out the local Apple Store.  It was packed like never before.  I did see a few computers going out and maybe one or two iPhones.

A clerk reported that sales of the iPHone have been steady with no particular increase after price cut.

I think it will take a few weeks for everyone to figure out that the iPHone they always wanted is now cheaper.

I checked out the ATT store in the same mall.  they have nor received any iPHones for a month.  This was strange and the clerk was not sure why and he could not believe it.  He said people are asking about it every day.

I think the price cut will not boost sales that much but rather keep them steady at about 300K a month through end of Oct.  Nov. we should see an up tick with Leopard release and extra features along with some improved iPhone.

I am a bit sceptical about the Nano (just my first thoughts) as I feel it’s enclosure physical design are esthetically wrong. Too many bad angles and wrong proportions, giving the device some totally unnecessary visual relations to Zuhuhune. It’s esthetically a mistake imho. Colour selection is also not optimal.

Respectfully, I couldn’t disagree more.  The size, compactness, thinness, and quality finish are bringing the nano to the function/style pinnacle.  Nano is now perfect to fit any pocket.  Get away from ear-to-mouth phone design.  Forget point at IR remote control design.

The study of money, above all other fields in economics, is one in which complexity is used to disguise truth or to evade truth, not to reveal it. The process by which banks create money is so simple the mind is repelled.

That 4th place PC World article was almost too well written.  big grin

The Why Apple Got it Right article was insightful, nice link to analysts opinions. Thanks for that.

Well if this is how the brain cells play at the PC World editorial offices they surely will start to embrace Apple the same way they have been in Microsoft pockets for ages. They just love monopolies.

The fact of the matter is that the PC World article is entirely stupid by it’s nature because we still live in a free world where it is still allowed to practice and run business models that do not relay on the Microsoft business model for computing. Calling Apple a monopolist just because Apple does not adhere to the illusion that just because Microsofts business model is based on different principles than the Apple business model is simply kindergarden arguments and too stupid to even comment.

Hello from the Apple store on 5th ave. NYC!  Place is absolutely jammed, as crowded as it was on iPhone launch weekend.  I came to check out the new iPods and they are quite impressive.  All the pictures I have seen of the new nano do not do it’s thinness justice.  The thing is almost as thin as a sheet of paper!  I don’t like that the edges are kinda sharp, almost feels like you could cut yourself on them.  I like the colors.  The iPod classic is pretty much the same as the last gen but with the updated color and OS.  I am most impressed by the new iMac, it is just gorgeous!  I haven’t seen it in person until today and it is great.  If you ever need any reassurance about your AAPL positions, just take your but down to a store and you will feel better instantly.  I am buying more AAPL on Mon. . smile

I had the same sort of reaction you did, Xumbra, until I saw one.I went to the Richmond, VA store Saturday (it was absolutely packed!) to pick up one of the new keyboards. On my way out - just anxious to get out of the way of all the people buying Apple stuff - I stopped abruptly when I saw the new nano. I had no idea how tiny it is! In person, the design is perfectly balanced and the colors are very appropriate. I agree with Macglenn; this thing is amazing. Even though I don’t “need” one since I snapped up a $400 iPhone, I want one, and one for every one of my kids for Christmas, and one for my girlfriend, and…

I bet a lot of people have the same reaction. Now if we could only get that reflected in the stock price!

If you buy a nano for each of your kids and your girlfriend and you suggest to everyone one you know they buy one for each of their kids and spouses or romantic interest and a few of your friends do the same in recommending the nano to everyone they know….

It will indeed be reflected in the stock price.  lol
