Guys….this was mentioned on a wellknown dutch news site. As fas as I can tell a M$ sponsored FUD fest….  search for OS X

http://ca.com/files/SecurityAdvisorNews/midyear_threat_outlook_report.pdf

Edit:  a small piece of digital doo:

Conventional wisdom holds that the MacOS X
operating system is more secure than the
Windows platform, yet that confidence may
crumble when you take a closer look at the
numbers. Vulnerabilities are being reported at
even a higher rate than the Microsoft platforms.
In the first half of this year, NIST reported 51
vulnerabilities in MacOS X, of which 38 were
medium or high severity. Last year, NIST
reported 104 vulnerabilities in MacOS X, so
vulnerabilities are being identified at a slightly
higher rate.

Cheers.

Can’t be bothered to read it. Perhaps CA are getting worried about the number of enterprise customers evaluating Mac & OS X. I believe CA’s business is based on large recurring fear-driven revenues for “enterprise reassurance” software for windows networks.

Availability of source for much of OS X makes it easier for vulnerabilities to be found.

That and the fact that CA and Macaffee etc seem to be using extortion every year to get cash out of PC users. “Pay up or your machine gets it!”

I think we will see more of this this fall. The launch of Leopard will also be the lauch of a new FUD campagne against OS X…on the Mac and and the iPhone. I think they will use every trick of the trade to bring it down.
