Cramer on CNBC trying his best to talk the market down screaming about the UK bank.  He wants to get that Fed rate cut so bad he will do or say anything to influence it at the expense of the millions of people in the world who own stocks.  At the risk of angering the Cramer boosters on the board, just hearing his voice makes me nauseous.

from briefing.com

btw take think secret with a grain of salt

11:02 AAPL Apple: European iPhone to arrive in November - Think Secret (138.65 +1.45)

Think Secret reports Apple will unveil its plans for the iPhone in the United Kingdom at a London media event next Tuesday, but the device will not be available to consumers until the first half of Nov, according to fresh information passed along by Think Secret sources. The Euro-spec iPhone will not be equipped with 3G network support, as some have speculated. The exact iPhone UK launch date will likely land during the week of November 12, although sources have said there is a possibility the iPhone will be in stores the previous week. Apple is expected to host a similar media event in France the following week, around September 24, to usher in the iPhone’s arrival in that country. The news will come ahead of Apple Expo, which kicks off September 25 in Paris. France Telecom’s Orange unit will be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in France, and phones are expected to arrive in the hands of French consumers around November 29.

What I would like to know is will SJ be in Europe over this busy few days?

The 18 Sept UK iPhone launch in London, the French iPhone launch on 24 Sept and the Paris Mac Expo on 25 Sept. Not to mention the German iPhone launch.

It would seem to be a very ‘efficient’ trip for a CEO. Will London/Paris be Beatles time?

[quote author=“Tommo_UK”]Why the hell can’t they have an on-line stock-checking system so you don’t have to call them? It would hardly be difficult for them seeing as everything is tracked.

They want people to visit the Regent Street store without knowing what’s in stock, then buy stuff they didn’t know they wanted. That’s retail. People only phone about stuff that probably isn’t in stock, so it costs money answering the phones, and stops people coming in, so they don’t answer the phone. An online stock check facility likewise just stops people coming in, and the people who’d use it most are your competitors trying to switch a buyer to a Wintel / Nokia etc. sale in their store.

Can any of you CNBC watchers tell me what the “tone” of things is right now?  I don’t have a TV.  Holding a couple pretty strong long trades, but don’t want to get caught in a stampede to exits on Friday afternoon.

I have it on, but cannot claim to be watching.  More like background noise to drown out my dog’s snoring.

With that qualification, I’d say the tone is one of breathless anticipation.  Maybe clueless anticipation would be even more apt.  Imagine a room full of people who know nothing about football talking about a really big game to be played next Tuesday as if it was all that mattered in the world.

I caught a glimpse of some ageing rock stars playing some boring lift (or “elevator”) music down in San Francisco talking animately about how Palm was the future… totally surreal…

Very good metaphor.  You could also say they they are a bit like the several different blind men, each describing an elephant…

While some of their absolute blithering idiocy is caused by the need to keep talking for hours and hours a day about the same thing, it still amazes me that this crew—with one or to exceptions—is the best and brightest that CNBC can find.  Can the pay really be that bad?

I dislike giving them more ink, but Erin just read from her teleprompter:  “iPhone has failed to put a dent in Blackberry, but will the new Blackberry hurt iPhone sales?  Stay tuned.”

I watched part of that and the part that impressed me was the fact that now Apple is on equal footing with RIM. They must have gotten real spooked and forced into a corner to pull out the iPhone killer as their last defense.
lol

The statement was made that the Apple was for multimedia whereas the BB is designed for Data, definitely a RIM commercial.
