[quote author=“emac”][quote author=“muckraker”][quote author=“coma”]I watched part of that and the part that impressed me was the fact that now Apple is on equal footing with RIM. They must have gotten real spooked and forced into a corner to pull out the iPhone killer as their last defense.
The statement was made that the Apple was for multimedia whereas the BB is designed for Data, definitely a RIM commercial.
Thanks, did the BB look any different than the general oversized ones they have now?
BTW, just paid my ATT wireless bill and there is absolutely no mention of the iphone on the site. If you search for phones you come up with some support docs. They do not even show Apple as a manufacturer of a phone if you are trying to shop online. Apple should do anything possible to get out of the ATT contract if it is at all possible. REally too bad! I think the stories about unfriendly customer service reps at the stores may just be right after all.
Unfriendly hardly tells the story. I was in the AT&T store here about a week ago switching SIMs (a long story, not worth repeating) and witnessed a prospective customer come in, ask for an iPhone because it seemed to him to be easy to use, was colorful and had a great screen, looked easy to get to contacts, and was cool. The store manager acknowledged that was all true, then—without even showing him the iPhone—began touting the Treo 700 and the BB, the decision between the two to be based on how much email he did on a phone. The guy left without buying anything, but promised to have the manager out to his business to standardize the five EEs on a single system. What are the odds the iPhone will be the solution?
I asked the manager why he had done that, and he said it was because “they” (AT&T mngmnt?) wouldn’t give him one so he can’t be bothered to learn about it.
And over 1mm sold with this kind of “support!”
You should relay this experience to Apple.
