I’m thinking seriously about an alternative to eTrade after today.  Do you have more info on TOS?

[quote author=“Plato”][quote author=“ChasMac77”][quote author=“Plato”][quote author=“Mace”]eTrade crashed.  Anyone has the same problem?  How to profit-take?

Yep same problem here - I hate E*Trade!

Starting to hate them too. Can’t log in either.

Mac

Well, I guess I needed something like that happening to get my but off my chair and do something. I will open an account with TOS tomorrow and move part of my money and if I am happy with TOS, I will move all my money.

My heart goes out to you guys. I.m with a UK trader and most of its users are in bed by now! So the few of us following the NAS only provide a low load on the server. I see this every time there is a surge.

Hope you get through to trade.

Zeke : you’ll love think or swim :

make an account on thinkorswim.com, download the desktop app and you can play with it freely… it is smooth, slick and the only times I have to restart the app… is when there are updates. And it has all the tools you need. Plus you get your money x 2 to trade shares. Yet you’ll do only options becouse it is so easy and you can do it all in one click.

I heard so many good things about them, not only on this board. There platform seems really great for daytrader and specially option traders. They also approve people for option trading level 3 and 4 (I am a long time customer with E*Trade, and w/o reason they rejected my request to trade option for level 3 and 4).

And they seem to be flexible enough to give me the same rates as E*Trade does currently. So I give it a shot, nothing can be worse than what I am experiencing right now. I can’t even get to my regular E*Trade account - horrible!!!

Get Think or Swim… As soon as the FED dropped the rate I got a pop-up with the announcement and the live chart just FLEW up… What a sight. The software is totally live without refreshing. You really must take a look.

I don’t use e*Trade but, yesterday’s news is perhaps reason for exercising some caution.

AAPL’s performance today is relatively pathetic IMO; it can hardly even keep pace with the Nas even with El Jobso flying all over Europe launching the iPhone for the next week. Meanwhile RIMM is up 5% roll eyes

The scepticism is pretty clear. It stinks. This stock has a lot of work to do, its clear, to regain investors’ trust after shaking them out continually over the last couple of months thanks solely to wholly unfounded and hysterical FUD spread by the likes of Scott “iPhone production to be cut by 50%” Moritz.

Go to the TOS charts tab and set it up the way you want with the views and studies that you want and on the top right hand side next to the setup button there is another button that will create a new separate window. You can create as many as you wish. Check out the video help in the help tab, lots of good stuff there. Also check out the prophet charts and play around with the patterns settings. Will display bullish and bearish treads for you, pretty nice. I am trying to figure out the Analyze tab.
