I thought to myself “I should buy SBUX” yesterday and of course completely forgot (probably my subconscious trying to keep me out of gambles)

I had some SBUX from end of 2004 to mid-2005 and should have held on, but the money went into AAPL, so no regrets wink

SBUX met estimates, guided a bit lower. Stock is off 5% I thought it would fall more in the news frankly. It may have bottomed, but no guarantees of anything until OE is over.

SBUX closed at $24.10 and hit $23 AH before slowly recovering. Much probably depends on the CC.

$22.84 now.

Worth watching SBUX.

I think the Fast Money guys have this one nailed - SBUX is no longer a high growth stock, therefore it has become a multiple-contraction story and with a low short interest, it might get pushed into the teens. Buy at your own risk.

That is my thinking.  Superbaka compared seeing Starbucks everywhere to seeing iPods everywhere, and Apple was still growing…BUT, would Apple still be growing IF they ONLY sold iPods?  Not at the same rate, I would imagine.  I LOVE Starbucks.  BUT,I think McDonalds can steal much from Starbucks.  When I’m in a hurry and need coffee, I have the choice of driving through McDonalds or going into Starbucks.  Guess which I choose?  McDonalds drive through.  I realize that *some* Starbucks have drive throughs, but not many.  Convenience keeps me from going to Starbucks.  I would love to be wrong, but that’s my gut feeling.

[quote author=“Tommo_UK”]SBUX is screwed short-term in my opinion. They need a massive refurbishment program for their non-US stores, which are looking more than a bit shabby, and are suffering from significant margin compression.

I used to love this stock (for obvious reasons) but haven’t for a long time now. The stock’s going through a period of consolidation but I wouldn’t like to guess when it ends.

Neither would I like to miss it when its valuation is more in line with its growth - once the growth catches up a bit.

I can’t add much more to this post from October 8th.
