Lots of free cool advertising for Apple and the iPhone. Just caught the first show of the season for Journayman which is a new NBC TV show. The main character is sporting an iPhone which has been shown three times so far. How many other TV productions do you think are placing iPhones in their productions?

Jack Bauer might be pretty rough on an iPhone. CTU has always been big on Macs so you never know smile

Dollars to doughnuts the producers had Macs to make the show look cool and futuristic then Dell came along and offered them cash to show Dells (product placement) and they responded like some business people i.e prostitutes .... at least the UK production of ‘Spooks’ has some creative integrity

I watched the premiere of “Chuck”, where the main character has a Mac Pro and a 30” monitor. In one scene, the PCs get a nasty virus that fries them to bits.

I wonder if this is the show that was supposed to be based on the Genius Bar?

Chuck is based on the Geek Squad (Best Buy owns them now).

Californication, on Showtime has also sported an iPhone: the daughter of the lead character (played by David Duchovney) has one. But they don’t make a big thing of it.

This season of 24 is bringing back a dead character (Tony Almeda). So that show you how out of touch the writers are with normal life on earth.

Totally off topic: I think the big hit of the season will be Pushing Daisies. Starts next week on ABS, so episodes will be on iTunes. ABC.com has a 15 minute teaser for it that’s fun to watch.

You’re right about that. Used to see Macs and Cinema displays all over the place. So, that’s why last season stunk smile Started out well but turned out to be the worst season of the series. Maybe the lack of Macs has to do with producer Joel Surnow’s hatred of liberals???

24 seemed to be trying to justify the Patriot Act and torture of terrorist subjects (even when they are Jack Bower’s brother). And they claim Hollywood is run by liberals!

Another NBC show, Hereos, during the end of the show a freight container was opened up as thieves were looking for iPods.

Talking of Heroes, the new series just started (sans-iTunes of course). Gentlemen, start your bittorrent clients.

I like their portrayal of Macs in use by Government. Will not likely happen on a large scale, but they certainly don’t look out of place on those CTU desks. I’d love to see Jack sitting there checking the maps application on his iPhone over EDGE (beating his head against a wall waiting for it to load) and then see the app crash (as it often does on mine).  razz

On 24 cell phones never loose their network, no matter how many basements deep in CTU head quarters they are. And there are no computers that can’t be hacked by the CTU geeks, who are able to find the missing data instantly. And of course in the CTU universe there are satellite cameras that can read the license plates of cars as if they are driving behind them. I’m sure glad our government hasall this great technology. I wonder how long before it trickles down to the rest of us?

Will,

This is common technology - it’s a mini-antenae that you can put inside your building. I worked at a company that actually paid the $$$ to install them in one building where the reception was so bad. I’m sure you need to coordinate with your cell providor, but if you’re paying - why wouldn’t they OK it.

I assume you mean an antenna to get a better signal. Or can I get my own Satellite images? wink
