Used to be third wednesday of the month. Apple usually announces date two weeks prior. Hence, if it is Oct 17, expect Apple to announce on Oct 3.
[quote author=“Tommo_UK”]Just got back form a fabulous evening and dinner with Snipus and a friend of his getting happily drunk by the minute as we watch AAPL climb up and up! What a way to eat, talk, and get richer! Now, Quadra my man, there’s a chamois leather with your name on it ready to clean my Ferrari til it sparkles, boy… chop chop get to it
Careful mate… the chammy could be from an old rough buck… although nothing a good pint couldn’t smooth over! cheers to you guys for getting together again.
[quote author=“dwn4crwn”]I posted this last week and I guess I will do it again…
Sorry for the newbness of this question,
I remember last year that some people (including Cramer) were saying that the last week of September was some kind of “window dressing” week, the last week of the fiscal year for MM’s to show in their portfolio that they have winners. AAPL rose quite a bit last year. I remember that the following first week in October it was dumped before rising again.
Is anyone expecthing this again?? Or this time a sustained up through October
every year has been different. There was a drop for the first week in Oct from about $78 to about $73 then after a week resumed its climb. I see nothing nothing significant about this… If we had followed a real old Wall street axiom ‘‘Sell in May and go away’’ we would be very unhappy now :o

Wall Street Journal says Oct 15 but I do not trust this.. I expect it the wednesday after OE

Earnings Whispers was posting Oct 24th “not confirmed”, but I just checked it this morning and it’s now showing Oct 17th, still “not confirmed”.
If you have never seen a BUYING panic we may get the chance between
now and end of the month (window dressing) No sellers of this must have tech stock. Could be over $160 by Friday….
The newsflow isn’t particularily AAPL- and Apple- friendly, but it seems that people are buying in anticipation of a “monster quarter” (dixit Cramer) and if AAPL continues its rise to the stars, earnings may trigger the classic run-of-the-mill sell-the-news…
...which everyone is also pricing in (see July earnings report and the action in afterhours with the bouncing-off of $120 or so, up to $151)
I’m not doing anything until I have a clear picture of what the quarter looks like, but I guess we’re in for another roller-coaster and we should already be used to that, right?

After watching the pre-announcement dump on Sept. 5, at 12:01, I’m expecting and planning for a sell-off around earnings.
OT: I had to change my avatar from the Linux Penguin. After 8 years of using Linux as my primary desktop, I just retired my Linux box. I got a 24 inch iMac delivered yesterday (previously was mostly using the Linux box and a Mac Mini as a secondary box).
End of an Era for me. I couldn’t be happier. These new iMacs simply are amazing. I love everything about it: display, performance, new keyboards, quiet, fast gorgeous.
I don’t live near an Apple store, so never seen one in person like many of you. My first thought after unpacking it was “Holy Smokes! AAPL is going to $200”.
If any of you haven’t played with the new iMacs and have access to a store, go check one out.
So the little Penguin avatar is gone. Since I used to live in Austin, went with Austin Powers. LOL
I can’t believe I made the same mistake again. Selling AAPL is becoming increasingly bad bussines for me. This really reminds me of May when I missed all the rally from 104 to 127 (after selling 103 and rebuying 99.5) to take part only from 125 to 150 and then again from 137 to 144. Missing now more than 10 bucks in two days is kind of frustrating. I still believe this stock can’t sustain current levels ahead of earnings but it seems that I really don’t understand the intentions Mr. Market has with AAPL. I guess I should try to reenter with smaller position just to manage my anger. But buying over upper band can’t be a good thing.
