[quote author=“Tommo_UK”]Shorting AAPL is like trying to time when to cross a busy road on a blind corner just below the crest of a hill - with a blindfold on. Good luck boys. You may get lucky, but you’re more likely to turn into roadkill with the stock in such a strong uptrend

I don’t get why anyone is shorting the stock here. It got over $149 and entered a confirmed uptrend - which may or may not have legs. $149/150 was the time to cover shorts, not enter them. Hell, if the stock falls under $150 even I’ll be shorting it, but unless it does, the risk is to the upside, and woe betide any short who thinks he is a good enough trader to scalp it.
I suspect a lot of momos who exited RIMM the last couple of days after the 2 downgrades are piling into AAPL for a quick trade. This rally today may not have far to go, but I wouldn’t short it yet, that’s for sure.
[quote author=“Demian”]I still think AAPL goes to $160.00 before any big pullbacks. Now only a buck and change away…..
I think $160.00ish will be the pivot point though…..
Even I’ll be gasping for oxygen at $160 pre-earnings…
[quote author=“JimDE”]and still mostly small lots. Lots of small lots.
That doesn’t necessarily mean small orders. If you put in a 2000 share buy (big order to some, pocket change for others), your buy is automatically routed to best prices at the different marketmakers, so you will more than likely see that you bought 225 shares through one company, 100 here, 500 there, and it will look like several separate orders on everyone’s last sale chart. These days, real investors who are trying to buy and sell huge blocks, who are not trying to move the market one way or the other, are doing their trading through other networks and bankers such as GS.
[quote author=“Tommo_UK”][quote author=“Quadra”]Okay, covered everything took the hit and have gone all in long… you guys win
$#!% you’re kidding me? I’m outta this thing.. that’s my contrarian sell signal. We’re heading for $152 now
Quadra, I would be real careful going long up here. Not a real good entry point. I would have rode out that short position. My judgement is clouded with an iPhone hanging on a stick and hopes of $160.00, but I would even consider shorting AAPL over $160.00…...
Are you pulling our legs? I don’t know if I believe you either…...
