Actually I think AAPL can easily go over 160 and peak somewhere well over this mark (not today of course) and then pull back just in time for earnings. I think this is July all over again. And ...wait for it… I’m still out despite the fact I haven’t changed my opinion about this for a week now. Total lack of confidence in myself and my decisions all over again as well. roll eyes I guess I need to learn the hard way as ever.

Decided to sell out this a.m. at 157.57

I might get back in later today.

We will see if that was the right move.

What is worth noting is that the markets are down while aapl is up.

This is usually a good sign.

[quote author=“muckraker”][quote author=“JimDE”]and still mostly small lots. Lots of small lots.

That doesn’t necessarily mean small orders.  If you put in a 2000 share buy (big order to some, pocket change for others), your buy is automatically routed to best prices at the different marketmakers, so you will more than likely see that you bought 225 shares through one company, 100 here, 500 there, and it will look like several separate orders on everyone’s last sale chart.    These days, real investors who are trying to buy and sell huge blocks, who are not trying to move the market one way or the other, are doing their trading through other networks and bankers such as GS.

Yeah, I know, Normally the fills happen in small pieces. It’s just that the stream at that point was mostly 3 digit lots & normally on stronger volume I see a lot more 4 or 5 digit lots trading relative to the 3 digit lot sizes.

FWIW it looks to me like someone just dumped a load of RIMM and AAPL.. they both took a dive together - RIMM’s down 3.4% today now. More likely a fund decided to take some money off the table than anything more sinister or worrisome, and the profit-taking is kicking in big-time now.

I told you, Quadra covering his short (allegedly razz) was the best contrarian sell signal you could have asked for lol

We’ll soon start hearing how traders are anticipating a “downgrade on valuation concerns” for AAPL, because “if RIMM can be downgraded then its gonna happen to AAPL too.”

Watch them take their profits and now try and talk it down instead.

Lucky me that I had to step out for 30 minutes otherwise I would have also covered when it spiked up. I am holding my short, I think there is more downside still to come.

[quote author=“Tommo_UK”][quote author=“Demian”]I still think AAPL goes to $160.00 before any big pullbacks. Now only a buck and change away…..
I think $160.00ish will be the pivot point though…..

Even I’ll be gasping for oxygen at $160 pre-earnings…

It’s all YOUR fault. As soon as you posted this, the downtrend began!!  lol  wink

I’d take the money and run, but re-short if 155.50 broke, I think. Good luck tho smile

BTW, I like the fact that we have people here going both long and short and able to discuss it, and joke about it without getting offended, while staying good-humoured. That’s rare and healthy on a stock discussion board!

More importantly, its very useful to hear arguments - both technical and fundamental - on the short/cautious side because it helps provide a sense of perspective.
