The definitive proof he is as stupid as he looks

Think they were aiming for humour - just came over as a load of wank.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

OMG .. I cannot believe he was introduced as “The Street.com’s Apple Expert.”

He reports there was a “Mac slump” in September.. FFS!!!!!! This is the same guy who two weeks ago came out and reported on 2.35M Mac sales for the quarter.

I can’t be bothered to write any more about it actually.. its the most absurd segment I have ever seen from TSC.

It makes sense for Apple to release new Pros with Leopard and an iMac refresh in January.

Leopard alone could mean 500k Mac units this quarter.

The iMacs just refreshed; since they use Intel’s mobility chips, and there isno new one on the horizon, I don’t see them refreshing so soon. The Mac Pros will depend on the stock piles of Intels new chips , which won’t start manufacturing in any volume until November. If we can assume that Apple has designed the new machines and all other components are ready, it is possible we could see new (and very expensive even by current Ocoto standards) Mac Pros at the end of November or early December. But Mac pros are hardly holiday buys; so there is no reason for Apple to rush them out before Leopard or even MacWorld in January. The only new Mac that might arrive next month would be a mini notebook. But that too would be waiting for Leopard at the end of this month.

I think you’ll find that neither you nor I have any idea when Intel will start manufacturing these chips, just that they intend to launch them on Nov 11th. Well, here’s some news for you: the 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo Extreme in the current iMac was used by Apple weeks before the rest of the market - including DELL - received shipments. As was the top-of-the-line 3Ghz Quad-core chip used in the current Mac Pro.

Given that Apple has hoovered up all of Intel’s initial supplies of this chip, by these accounts, there is every possibility that they will release a new top-of-the-range Mac Pro to coincide with the release of Leopard, to emphasise the class-leading breakthrough nature of the OS. Apple gets the chip first, Intel launches it officially to “everyone else” on Nov 11th smile

I believe that we’ll see Leopard released, as scheduled, late this month (10/26 is my bet).  At the same time, I think it’s conceivable that Apple will release the Mac Tablet device, just to really shake things up for the holidays and complete their product strategy for the year.  Come January, the Tablet, if not released this year, will make its debut, along with updated MacBooks/MBPros.  Looking ahead, I’m not sure what else we will be expecting at January MacWorld.  Our world seems so complete as it is.  I doubt that we’ll see an iPhone refresh at that time.  I don’t think that will come until later in 2008.

Finally, to stave off the inevitable stock slump which hits in January, and to reward us investors, Apple will announce a 3:1 stock split at January earnings.
