Ipod touch availability in Europe

I have called half of the Apple Premium sellers in Belgium and the Netherlands daily for the last two weeks now and every time I have the same disappointing answer: no we do not have the ipod-touch on sale yet…and no we do not know when Apple will deliver them.
Last weekend I almost booked me a ticket on the Eurostar just to get me an ipod-touch in London…but Tommo told me there wasn’t any availability in London either… so I cancelled that trip frown
So I am really wondering: Are there any Europeans out here with an ipod touch?  Is there a production problem or are these things selling even better then Belgian beer?  cool

PS: I ordered one online now: delivery in 7-10 days

I ordered mine online on the 1st October, with a delivery date of the 11th October.  However on tracking the shipment there is apparently an unspecified delay of some sort.  I have seen no one in London with one.

Yep, the iTouch will do that too you.  big grin

Got mine October 1st - it’s really a great and slick iPod. The 3.5inch screen is great for watching movies - cristal clear!

My son (6 yrs), never heard of the iPhone or iTouch, knew instantly how to navigate the iTouch. Now he watches Discovery Channel shows (about sharks and dinosaurs) on the weekend and I have to ask him if I may PLEASE have MY iTouch back!!!  roll eyes

Hope you get one too very soon.  wink

Plato’s comments got me thinking how he could get the Discovery Channel?  I assume he meant through itunes.  The TV content in the UK is very poor.  However, I had a look at what is on offer and this may be the catalyst that actually gets me to create an itunes account and download stuff for car journeys etc.  Video on the ipod is not great, but the itouch could well see a massive increase in trade on itunes.

Correct, I meant iTunes of course. Bought some Discovery Channel shows for my son, very good and educational, and as I mentioned, the 3.5inch screen is really nice, much better thane the traditional iPod screens.

lol I guess an iTouch might be easier and faster to get, and not to forget much cheaper maintenance!  razz

Sorry but you got the wrong person trying to bribe! I lived for a very long time in Germany and still go there every other year bringing tons of chocolate from Germany with me and not to forget the beers I drink while I am there.  smile  drool
But I have to say I visited Belgium on several occasions and have to admit, you guys know how to make chocolate and brew beer that’s for sure!
