Glad to hear it, ctt1wbw.  FYI, the current version of the daily builds is “0.9.3+” since it’s newer than 0.9.3, but has not yet reached the next release stage and does not have a specific version number of its own.  Before 0.9.3, but after 0.9.2 came out, the daily builds were called 0.9.2+.

Well, after using 0.9.3 for a little bit, I had to delete it.  It crashed 2 times in about 10 minutes on me…  Don’t know why either, so I am back to the stable 0.9.2.  I guess I will use this one until something along a Preview Release comes out from Mozilla.

I also downloaded Omniweb 4.0.5 yesterday too.  It’s still slower than molasses in January.  Still can’t do online banking with it.  I will try the 4.1 release when OS X 10.1 comes out and I have it installed.  I have heard that OW is much much faster on 10.1 builds, because of the Quartz engine.  We’ll see.

I also downloaded some new Mozilla icons from http://www.xicons.com.  Purdy cool!  icon_smile.gif

Has anyone used OPERA as a browser?  I notice they have them listed for OS 9x and OS X.

I’ve tried Opera on both OS X and 9 and it’s faster than a bat out of…well, you get the idea.

However, neither version is done yet, and it shows.  (The final revs should kick butt, though.)

I’ve been on OS X full time since 03/24 and OmniWeb was my primary browser for quite a while and I just used IE for online banking and to access some online training from Cisco.  I liked Mozilla but it didn’t support Flash and Quicktime.

Then I grabbed Netscape 6.1 Beta for OS X and found that it was the first version of NS6 that didn’t suck.  Nice and fast, stable (relatively speaking) and lets me access my online banking, Cisco training and my Quicktime movies.

Right now it’s NS6.1 full-time.  I do plan on trying OW 4.1 when it comes out and may switch back.

Browser wars aside, isn’t it nice to have some real *choices*?  (Seven different browsers at last count.)

IE 5.1 for X: I used it when X first shipped and gave up. I used it again with 10.0.4 and gave up again. I use it exclusively in OS 9.1, but I’ve given using it in X.

IE 5.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.1 is not only insanely fast (as compared to its predecessors), it also doesn’t hang when popping up dialogs.  It’s suddenly become my favorite browser again.  As far as I can tell, its only drawback is that it doesn’t take advantage of font anti-aliasing, which I can live without given all of the other advantages.  (Specifically, it’s fast, stable, and easily the most compatible.)
