Re: AAPL Intraday Updates

[quote author=“DawnTreader”]My concern for Monday trading is this incessant
preoccupation with retail sales number that will mean absolutely nothing by the end of the holiday shopping season.

Hey don’t forget about “Cyber Monday, “Tawdry Tuesday” and “Beige Wednesday.” Then we have the “4 calendar weeks before Xmas” and then the “November retail numbers in December”. And then the “post-holiday sales forecasts.” A never-ending stream of junk devised to confuse the hell out of people (most of which I just made up).

Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Oh, but I like them.  lol

How about these for headlines we might see over the next couple of weeks:

“The market moved lower today on fears robust retail sales means the Fed won’t lower interest rates in January.”

“The markets moved lower today on fears early reports of strong holiday sales won’t be sustained.”

Ok, I’m done ranting on this subject…almost.  wink

The markets (including AAPL) should open higher on Monday. Let’s see if the lift can be sustained.

The stock is moderately up in Europe and early PM was up, $173-174 but dropped by a buck as of this writing, still up from Friday highs.

I sold a bit at $173.5. I think that the bears will try today to push it lower intraday, at least to fill the PM gap, so I expect adding it again below current price later. Not a big amount though.

Don’t tell anyone, but we’re clowning about just around the Middle Bollinger now for the first time since the collapse from the high.

I expect to see the usual suspects try to sell the market off, if only to either prove it can be done again (and keep the same ol’ trading programs running) or to prove that sentiment has actually changed for the better. The same crooks driving us down day after day could easily take us up for weeks into December - they’ve sucked in so many shorts now that there’s fuel for a fantastic squeeze if they decide it’ll be easier to drive stocks up instead of down.

Momentum works both ways after all - and you can only compress a spring so much before it either breaks or explodes upwards again. That’s where I think we are right now.

But AAPL is still up together with GOOG, so direct AAPL related news are probably not the driver behind this. Rather, a generic post-thanksgiving tech something…

Just sold my whole AAPL position at 176.47. Looking for a pullback of a few dollars now.

I’ve been holding that position for way too long (especially with having to shift broker). Just wanted to hit the reset button and look to load back up between 170-172.
