Three times Dell’s Market Cap —Apple is getting scary

http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/15713/

At this rate of growth, Steve Jobs must have Google in it’s sights.  Wow!  I wonder if Michael Dell ever regrets making that should be long forgotten statement.  I guess one should never open one’s mouth without thinking. lol

My question about keeping the stores filled during the lean months is because I thought Apple’s sales were more or less seasonal.  Back to school and Christmas sort of thing.

I don’t get into Manhattan anymore since I have to take care of my ailing father.  I’ve not yet been to one Apple store, so I can’t even imagine how much traffic they can generate.  If Apple can keep making new product announcements throughout the year, then maybe they can keep the stores filled.  I suppose as long as they can sell five to ten iMacs and MacBook Pros a day, they’ll make enough money to keep the stores in the black.

I would venture to guess that the stores are pretty close to doing that an hour!! At least on the lower end.  big grin Every time I have been to my local Apple store I see at least one computer system going out the door in the short period of time I am there!!

This might have been true in the past, but Apple has been changing over the years.  The iPhone is a new animal.  More and more people are buying Macs, which may no longer be AS seasonal.  If a new subnotebook comes out next year, well, not many will be able to wait until Christmas for it.  smile

I’m kind of teasing, but I am making a serious point—past performance is something to consider, but Apple is changing in a lot of ways, so this may need rethinking.
