[quote author=“lumi”]This was reported in The Register a few todays ago, but cnet’s take on the possibility of Leopard running Windows apps natively is more than a little bullish:

If what The Register writes is even remotely true, the writing is on the wall for Microsoft’s desktop dominance. What does it say? “Game over.”

I wonder what it means for viuses, one of the easiest selling points for Mac OSX.

Current windows emulation layers don’t run viruses well.  Since they re-implement windows, and don’t just run it, it means that the security bugs are just not in the same places (or not there at all hopefully).  I don’t think it’s such a worry.

Google redesigns for the iPhone

The latest evidence that Apple’s iPhone is making significant waves in the mobile web is the sudden appearance of a complete suite of Google services designed for the iPhone.
So, why is Google developing iPhone specific interfaces? Well, there’s the obvious connection between Eric Schmidt being Google’s CEO and also a sitting Apple board member.

Other factors behind Google’s interest in being iPhone-friendly:

- Mobile Safari is now nearly 1% of browsers across the Internet
- Mobile Safari now gets 1 out of every 1,000 Internet page views
- Mobile Safari has achieved this popularity in 5 months
- Windows Mobile is 10 years old but has only .66% of Mobile Safari’s share
- iPhone is 2007’s fastest growing search term on Google

This little iPhone project is absolutely the real deal—but shhh!—don’t tell Fast Company.

Wheeles,  Thanks for the post on the CIBC note on C.  Now this is potentially market moving news.

C is up. Maybe the Meredith Whitney effect has finally stopped working.

I always said I wanted to see a day where there was a “cataclysmic” bank downgrade on which the markets actually rose in order to see a bottom put it. Maybe this is it?

oops.. should have written Meredeth Whitney.. she’s the CIBC analyst who came out with the massive Citi call that sent the stock and the stock market reeling a few weeks back.

She’s a total media whore and has been putting herself about ever since shrieking words and prognostications of doom about anything mortgage related ever since.

Lots of Catalans are on its way to New York too because tomorrow is a holiday and they plant to be there for several days including next weekend. With enough time and prevision, it has been possible to find prices for flights from Barcelona to NY as low as 1.5Ђ !. With a dollar so cheap buying in the US must be really a bargain.

And logs are cheaper here too. smile

carbonat, thanks for being such a good sport. smile

The Google redesign doesn’t seem to work on the iPod Touch. At least not mine.

Article

The site should also work properly on the iPod touch, but this appears to be restricted to American visitors at present, as accounts suggest that Canadians are not being redirected.

I’m an American. Do they need to see my passport?

Perhaps it’s not quite what C|Net thinks.
