The shuffle price cut will pump units in the March quarter. ASPs on the line is one of the more interesting stats to be released on Wednesday.

Conversely, the release of the higher-priced (and apparently more popular) 32GB iPod touch should help ASPs smile

My Ipod revenue number 1.909 B looks pretty good which would give us about 13% revenue growth YOY.  Tommo what are you using for ASP.  I used 181 but think that might be couple dollars low with the 32GB added.

It was moderating sales growth of the shuffle in the December quarter that caused analyst alarm. Even though revenue was up 17% YOY too much focus was placed on flat YOY unit sales in the US and a 5% global rise in unit sales.

The price cut on the shuffle with higher-priced (and higher margin) iPods in the market should bring balance to the results.

I’m not concerned about iPod unit sales other than the general lack of understanding of Apple’s product plans on the part of analyst and Street reporters.
