iPhonAsia blog suggests iPhone ][   might just possibly have wave-to-pay .

Seems fairly unlikely, although it looks like we will be doing it in the UK soon*, and Apple does like to do the Gretzky thing .

* edit: not meaning to be parochial - just saying it’s spreading beyond Japan and Korea

Something to be considered is the actual 3G coverage areas (at least for us U.S. customers). Unless you’re near a fairly large metro area you won’t be benefiting from it for now. U.S. Coverage Area map

It seems everyone is focused on the 3G.  The baseband radio will switch to Edge as required so the performance will equal todays Iphone or better.  I personally am interested in the Application Processor.  This will affect everything the Iphone does. The current Samsung processor used by Apple is a version of the S3C6400 running at about 400MHZ the follow on processor the S3C6410 runs at about 600MHZ and is pin and software compatible with the S3C6400 additionally it has a 3D graphics accelerator which supports open GL ES 2.0 all this in a low power 65 nm process.

Throw in the GPS/Bluetooth from CSR.  CSR’s first eGPS solution will be a combined Bluetooth/GPS device with an incremental BOM cost of under $1 in volume. And the PCB area required for the combined Bluetooth/GPS core is virtually identical to that for Bluetooth alone!

The REAL POOLS of money today, emmanate from places where 30 years ago, a refrigerator was an aspiration. Just look around the world, China, India, Gulf States, you name it, they were considered pathetic backwards and poverty infested with literally NO FUTURE whatsoever.
Things proved out differently, didn’t they?
And one of the things NEW MONEY CRAVES more than anything, is respect, admiration, and acceptance as being as cool, hip, and connected as the “rich”
Just look at China, people can get a knockoff off anything for almost free, but the REAL THING, with the status attached is almost unobtainable because of incessant pent up demand.
And what is the “cool product” today in computers, music, and phones? Yep.
Just THINK about how many iPhones were MADE in China,shipped to the USA, and then grabbed up BY speculators and taken BACK to China,unlocked, and are supreme status icons? I would not be at all surprised if a full 1 in 6 of iPhone gen one phones ended up in CHUPPIES hands.
Anyway, as the iPhone does its viral stealth thing { it is REALLY a commercial in tangible form for the APPL ecosphere } suddenly those MacBook Airs will not be something strange, and the rest of the system will be seen with fresh eyes.
Eyes with MONEY gang, they will see everyone they know oohing, and aahing over their new toy, their friends will want one, and so on.
And if each new owner of the iPhone, were to say desire a few shares of APPL, I see the overseas INVESTOR as the spinoff unrecognized thing that I’m more or less assuming will happen.

That have me think it would be a good idea to invest in some marketing and advertising of the AAPL stock shares in those countries. To let them know how cool and wise it is to own AAPL shares. 

Welcome clubJWP and nice first post. I agree wealth has shifted big time and shows no signs of slowing. As good as Apple’s advertising and marketing are I believe the prime mover of its products is still Viral.
