I do not care for Steve Ballmer, but what happened there was uncalled for. Where was security? Surly Ballmer has his own body guards. The guy in the audience could have had something in his hand more destructive then a egg.  bug eyed

I have to admit, all things considered, Ballmer handle himself well. Much better behavior then we normally get from him.  razz

Sometimes the sense of frustration of the little people, who see their representative colluding with suppliers so they can line their pockets, drives these outbursts. The conventional way to challenge these abuses of power, perceived or real, are too littered with rule, lawyers, bribed officials, and interests to give any chance for a change.

Violence nor egg throwing are to be condoned, but sometimes it is the only protection against the powerful.

At least Ballmer didn’t return fire with the nearest chairs.  razz I suppose he’s to be congratulated for his sense of restraint.

From MDN story 29.June.2006  here

“Among the ex-Microsoft executives and top technical talent now at Google are former Microsoft China head Kai-Fu Lee; Mark Lucovsky, a top engineer whose departure upset Ballmer so much that the CEO allegedly threw a chair across an office; and Adam Bosworth, a former general manager and software expert,” Thomas reports.

I agree with MacCube and Eric Landstrom. I have no love for Microsoft or its leadership. But these childish acts just diminish the credibility of people with legitimate grievances.

Yes. Truly appalling behaviour. Still made me giggle though innocent

I’m glad the disenfranchised egg man’s getting a reaction. What Microsoft and governments around the world have done to IT education is a disgrace. Remember we never had the Apple ][ education era; it’s always been microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft microsoft in education, unless you were lucky enough to go to a private school.

I don’t know about that. My liberal arts undergraduate education made us do a Baton death march by forcing us to learn how to program on Apple ][s in 1990. I can assure you that Apple ][s have not come up ever since.

Well, CNBC, being the “on top of things” news service they are, just ran the story about Ballmer being egged…said it happened last night and that it was about lost jobs.  roll eyes

For the record I do not condone the protester’s actions.  For a minute there it looked quite serious bug eyed

I just posted the vid because I saw the Macbook being moved out of the way when he was escorted out.

Luckily there were no chairs around for Ballmer to throw back at the protester or things might have turned really nasty razz

Seriously, I actually think its pretty funny. Ballmer’s a jerk. And an asshole. he deserves a few rotten eggs thrown at him after infecting the world with Windows for the last decade. I can see the funny side in this - after throwing chairs around his office at people when he got angry, I hope Ballmer can too.

As already stated, physical abusive protests are uncalled for and childish.  They should stick the protestors into a time out corner, like they do with little children; accept make it a jail cell for a week.  If your don’t like the way Microsoft screws you, buy Macs.  There is a choice.  Maybe not a good choice a few years ago, but a lot better choice now.

But, to all of us aapl geeks, it was funny.  Right up there with monkey boy.
