Am I the only one who thinks that the ultimate addition to the Apple Stores would be to put a Starbucks-like cappuccino bar at the Mac Genius counter? Can you imagine this?

Customer: Say mac genius, how do I connect my palm pilot to hotsync in X—darn thing doesn’t work

Genius: Well, I have many suggestions and they include ...

Barista: (makes the coffee) - 2 questions—1) you want this triple vanilla half decaf macchiato skim or whole? and 2) Did you turn on file sharing, because then you might be able to use IR to sync if you have the right model.

It could be a wonderful way to relax, unwind and get answers to your questions. And nothing like some espresso in you to increase your chances of buying. get you all hyped up, etc. And if all the tables had pastries and airport connections, it would be the hottest place around. I’m telling you ... this idea is gold.

And I love the idea of the the Mac Genius’ being relegated to brewing coffee too.  What’s that Kyle?  icon_wink.gif

Imagine the espresso stains on the floor/QuickSilver G4s/Studio Displays/etc.

I love the idea though!

When I go to Starbucks, after I order my $4 coffee, I get ...” Would you like a scone with that today?”

This way, perhaps we’d have ... “Would you like any hardware or software today?”

Or, I could come up with a marketing plan—- for every $75 in Mac merchandise you buy with your espresso, get a free scone.

The possibilities are endless!

Starbucks? No thanks, I’d rather have good coffee.

Wow. Not a Starbucks fan, huh? What’s the coffee of choice in Indiana?

I love Starbucks’ coffee.  I think they offer a great product at a fair price.

I think it’s time to start a “Corporate Coffee” thread in the Rant Room!

Depends on the part of Indiana you’re talking about. I was born in a small town, the same town as another Hoosier who sang those lines, and there the coffee doesn’t matter as long as it has a shot of eye-opener in it.

In truth, Starbuck’s is probably the most common coffee-shop purchase here. I just don’t like the coffee. The coffee shop I go to uses Seattle’s Best, and a couple other types for particular blends. Their “Henry’s Choice” is fantastic ... especially with an “eye-opener”. icon_biggrin.gif

Cafe retail transformed the way people looked at bookstores.  Doing this has the potential to completely change the way people look at computer shopping in general… even more potential than the stores already have.

That idea is more than just cool; it’s brilliant.  I am enamoured with this idea.

As it happens, a new Apple reseller that just opened in town is situated smack between a pair of cafes.  Also, the campus Apple Consortium member at my college happens to be placed in the perfect spot - right beside the Union bar. icon_biggrin.gif   They both make a total killing.  Coinkidink?  I think not.
