The new WWDC banners are a prelude to the oncoming Apple marketing message:

“If you buy an iPhone, welcome to OS X, and guess what your next computer should be?”

The iPod Halo is nothing compared to what the iPhone Halo is going to be.  Buying an iPod got you no closer to the Mac platform.  You could use iTunes on your PC very happily.  Sure, you were now a satisfied user of one Apple product, but how much closer did that really make you to switching computer systems?

But once you buy an iPhone, you’ve already made the switch.  Welcome to the club.  Do you want to pay for that MBA with your credit card on file?  big grin

Since I did not own a mac until after my iphone purchase I can agree completely with that part having a halo effect.  What I have to disagree on is the itunes working properly on a pc. My computer and iphone/itunes did not play well together so I bought a mac. Thats right my iphone cost me more than most. It amazes me that this did not create more problems for Apple. Thankfully it has not been a problem.  apple  apple

I started with Apple stock big grin, then the iPhone and then an iMac (there was a shuffle in there somewhere).  Like yours, my iPhone/itunes did not play well with my PC either.

My only problems lately have been because I did not read the manual first roll eyes

Re: OS X iPhone   Halo 2.0

Many folks who have been PC users are “politely” making the transition. The fact that things did not go well with a PC are far more entangled than Apple’s iTunes software not working with an iPod.

The iPhone will make the wave of new Mac owners almost 70% at every Apple sore in 2009.

Apple is making serious inroads to the PC brethren, and the ill’s they have been experiencing. I cannot believe the numbers of friends and family that are, or have expressed an interest to going Mac. It almost appears we are no longer considered the “Dark Side”

Apple’s total Mac sales for 2009 could very well be 14-15 million units. And i believe that may be conservative. Get your money printers out… You’ll need em.

Like yours, my iPhone/itunes did not play well with my PC either.

There you have it.

With Apple you can think and do different. With a pc all you can do is think. If it didn’t come in the pc box when purchased you are highly likely to experience difficulties in implementation. Hardware especially.

Well, now that I have acknowledged that I have a problem, I have joined a group. We meet Saturday at the Apple store big grin . Seriously, though, I signed up for some of the in-store training sessions to reduce the amount of head-banging when I figure something out. This free training is just one more thing that seperates Apple from the rest.

I have two co-workers who started with iPods and then went to MacBooks. One now has an iPhone and the other is chomping at the bit until next week. He asked me if he thought he ought to go get in line now? BTW, I was in line last year on iPhone day! I have loved every minute of owning my iPhone.

I was pleasantly surprised to open up the Final Cut Studio 2 box and find it LOADED with manuals. Now I have something to read this weekend while cooling my jets before WWDC kicks off.

And you’re gonna need ‘em brother.  Plus the Ripple Training DVD, and most probably the Diana Weynand book.  Did I miss anything?  Maybe a decent deck.
