I think it’s good to attempt some kind of balance, despite the inherently partisan nature AFB members, myself included smile

I agree, and I *do* try to be objective, but the old saying “love is blind” has a basis in fact.  I *love* Apple and everything they do.  I *believe* in them.  I *believe* they are possibly the most innovative company on the planet.  Because of that, I find it tremendously difficult to see past my “belief” and look at Apple through the eyes of the *many* who buy and sell AAPL stock and know NOTHING about how fabulous the company is.  In my head, I *know* I have to try to see AAPL through the eyes of the “non-believer”, but it’s really difficult for me to do so.  I’m better at it than I was a year ago, but I’m still *very* guilty of believing too much in Apple and not enough in WS and what it can and *will* do to AAPL. roll eyes

I think it’s misguided to use the sum of the parts as the cost to Apple.

There is also:

1.Engineering costs
2. Design costs
3. Manufacturing
4. Shipping
5. Warehousing
6. Advertising
7. Packaging
8. Accessory costs (a ittle less now without dock included)
9. Having to hire new store staff to handle demand.

It is, it is!

Particularly given the propensity for hype the seems to exist - it seems to blow things out of proportion. As we know Apple are very good at small, incremental changes which don’t seem hugely significant but actually are. It’s just a matter of patience as all these things come together. One day, people will wake and see a new dawn.

I was going to put a disclaimer on there about that but thought it might be vague enough to get away with it smile

Gizmondo reports:

iPhone 3G Family Plan Price Details (Yes it Exists!)
One of the major questions still unanswered about the iPhone 3G on AT&T is whether or not you can do family plans with it. Good news. AT&T just let us know that yes, Family Talk plans ARE available. Voice plans start at $39.99 a month (same as the regular one-line starting plan) and additional lines will be $9.99 a month. AT&T’s expecting lots of Family Talk Plans this time around because of the $199 price point. I’m planning on signing up for a family plan as well, so it’s great news for me personally.

WWDC08 echo

The appearance of spanish game developer digtal-legends at the keynote had its echo today on the frontpage of elmundo the spanish newspaper.

Even if you don’t speak/read spanish you will be surprised how often they name Apple, iPhone, SDK, Steve Jobs ...

Developers not only bring money for Apple but they also help advertising the iPhone. Big things are coming our way.
