I’ve read lots of rants and raves about how horrible Apple service is.
One has to wonder if people ever rave about good service? Well wonder no longer.
I have an incredible amount of respect for their phone service.

At my place of work, we use airport networking to connect our iBooks and PowerBooks. I noticed a problem with one of the base stations when I installed an Airport card into a new G4. It could not see the base station.
After calling Apple’s 800 number and waiting for approx. 3 minutes, a representative was helping me. We went through about 45 minutes of troubleshooting and software upgrading to no avail. We finally narrowed the problem to the base station, which I might add was bought only a few weeks after they were introduced.
That means that the Apple rep. was helping me troubleshoot something that wasn’t even close to being under warranty.

Here’s the most unbelieveable part. He arranged for Apple to replace the Base Station, that is years out of warranty (because he said it is a “known issue”), AT NO CHARGE.

THAT is great service. And I want to publicly thank both Apple and the service techs that helped far more than they were obligated to.

What’s the difference between a Mac and a PC? Macs are designed, PCs are assembled.

I have been pleased with Apple’s phone support.  Good to hear another good story too!

Same here. I’ve had to call a couple times and both times the people have been friendly and helpful and willing to take time. I’ve done tech support, and lan’ sakes, honey-chile, it is not a fun job. And when I did it, I had to support PhDs, who, of course, are never wrong.

Hm, I wonder if this is related to another phenomenon I’ve seen. Has anyone else ever noticed that people who’ve never worked in restaurants make lousy tippers? I suspect those who {COMPLAIN} about support are people who’ve never had to do that job.
