[quote author=“mike_b”]Is this $7B ytd cash production correct? I haven’t been following too closely lately… WTF are they doing with the cash? And why oh why are we at $160?
[quote author=“Tommo_UK”]Here’s another good, succinct piece which tries to educate the less well-informed as to why P/E is redundant as a metric with which to measure AAPL’s financial success:
7B is an educated guess. More importantly not all of Apple’s accounting is subscription. Notably the Mac division isn’t. The author over estimates Apple’s earnings using a cash model. However the author is correct in the sense that Apple has made more money than is revealed in the earnings statement or the PE ratio but Apple has not recorded those additional earnings on its books or the additional interest made on the cash that hasn’t been recorded. Because of unknown factors in accounting Apple is difficult to value and so Apple has been moving more on sentiment than fundamental analysis.
