I am confident it will get worse.
In fact I don’t see any improvement in those numbers for at least 2 years.

This an interesting site. Let’s see how quickly some of these areas get mopped up. I don’t agree it will take two years for the situation to get better. There are too many people in search of housing and with the drop off in housing starts we should see progress (albeit slowly) almost week to week.

These are cumulative numbers, not new foreclosures.

I don’t think they are cumulative.
I think it might be like the unemployment list.
Some folks get a job, some folks lose a job.
Over at REALTYTRAC , there are currently 1,947,878 foreclosures nationwide. I sent Realtytrac an email. They said their number was current.
I believe FORECLOSURESLISTINGNATIONWIDE only updates once per week. It may take a few weeks or months of noting to see a trend.
Some recent stories have suggested the bottom is in. If you read the “blog” on the above website, it gets scary.

The number of bankruptcies was precisely the same number. Isn’t that odd?

Back on May 23rd I posted Realtytrac’s total foreclosures as 1,913,073 .
As I posted above, their current number of foreclosures is 1,947,878.
That is a rise of 34,000 in a month. And like I said, they said their numbers were NOT cumulative. They were current numbers.
The current number TODAY is 1,962,567.

ALL the numbers are odd. I will start checking DAILY if I can to see when the numbers change.

THIS site lists REO properties. From what I understand, these are homes where the families just turned over the keys to the bank and left!
This site lists over 1,000,000 MILLION REO PROPERTIES.

I hope it was either 1,000,000 or 1 million and not 1,000,000 Million.

That’s what I meant by cumulative, they keep adding to the previous total. Except for the bankruptcies? I wonder what these number were like last year, or in earlier years. What used to be normal?

I have listed two different sites for this observation. I STILL don’t believe they are cumulative. They are current numbers.
For instance: How many ipods (not counting iphones) are in use? Some would say over 141 million. NO! That is the cumulative number. That is the total number Apple has sold. Ipods break. Ipods wear out.
Preforeclosures become foreclosures. Foreclosures are sold. All the numbers should change over time. A rise of 34,000 in one month might mean ACTUAL foreclosures might have gone up 100,000.
P.S.:
I have updated one of the totals above.
