Ok, fair enough. I didn’t realize there were more statistics related posts in that thread, so I see what you’re asking now:
How come viewing a page doesn’t add me into the “Active Users” list?
To me, it appears to add users into the list when they log on, and flushes them out of the list after 15 minutes. I’ve asked the EE folks if there are other triggers that add people into the list as well. They’re usually good about getting an answer in a few days. I’ll let you know what I find out.
One More Thing: The two main login screens have a checkbox titled “Show my name in the online users list”. If that’s unchecked, it sets a cookie named “exp_anon”. If that cookie exists, it won’t display your user in the Active Users list.
In Safari, go to Preferences > Security. Click “Show Cookies”. search for “exp_anon” and if you see a result for the macobserver.com domain, that would explain why a user isn’t showing up.
I don’t think this is the case as we’d see a higher “Anonymous Users” count, but it’s worth at least making sure.
