For those having upgraded to iTunes 9, there are two little things that can make life easier.
One is that iTunes 9 has a new organization tree for your media. Instead of just a huge listing of folders under “iTunes Music”, it now categorizes your media with “Music”, “Movies”, “Audiobooks” folders. You can change to this sorting method by going File->Library->Organize Library…
Once that is done, you will see a new folder under the same “iTunes Music” directory called “Automatically Add to iTunes”.
This folder is designated that anything placed within will, of course, be automatically added to the iTunes library. Sounds like an ideal spot to download AmazonMP3 or media from the net, right?
Well, Apple actually says in an article to not put incomplete files in that folder. ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3832) Would seem that the purpose of the folder is defeated.
Alas, there is a way. Drag that folder to your sidebar. Now you have a perfect drag and drop alias, readily available, to add media files to iTunes.
Now you can easily download an album from an artist website (I suggest Milla Jovovich, http://www.millaj.com , as she has a great voice) then just drop it on that new alias to add to iTunes.
From useless to useful.
