After getting good feedback here about 1Password, what are your thoughts on PGP disk encryption?  Full disk encryption, PGP Desktop for e-mail and IM, or the full bundle?

I know it is not been released for Snow Leopard yet.

Or, I guess depending on a person’s needs, do you use a encrypted .dmg file for your important data?

Your thoughts, ideas, pros and cons are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

George.

I use whole disk encryption on my Mac due to work requirements. It is generally pretty sound. I have the whole suite. I actually use WDE AND an encrypted virtual disk, with two different passwords.

Pros: you do have a fully encrypted disk from the start. Can’t even boot without the password.
Can encrypt mail and files individually. Can create encrypted zip files

Cons: a little slow, but not bad.
cannot run bootcamp (I believe this is being addressed in v10)
cannot run disk repair utilities like Diskwarrior or Techtool on an encrypted disk
takes a LONG TIME to do initial encryption of a large disk. Like overnight.
cannot create self-extracting zip files for use with Windows users.

Hope this helps.
