Ok, I hope that I can explain this correctly.  I have a problem with my Iphoto Library.  I think it might relate to permissions?  When I upgraded to snow leopard, I did something to my library.  When I go to find my pictures they are all in the iphoto library image in the picture folder.

The problem is that the library is just an image of the dock i con(camera with a palm tree behind it).  After I click on the image it will open the library(same as clicking on the dock Icon) not the individual folder where the pictures are stored.

My question deals with finding the folders where these sneaky pictures are hiding.  When trying to upload pictures, all I can see after going /Users/Pictures/library is that stupid image of the dock Icon and not the individual pictures that I want to upload.  It’s frustrating.

Not sure why you would want to get to your photos this way rather than just using iPhoto to add new photos, view, edit, share, export etc. But to get past the iPhoto Library icon in user/pictures right click (ctrl click) and select “Show Package Contents” from the contextual menu.

This is how iPhoto works… it created a single icon entry to the backend database which is contained there in.

iPhoto is the way to get at those photos.  If you have photos outside of the iPhoto library, but in the Pictures folder, you can, via iPhoto, import them in.

I have lots of downloaded from the web pix in my Pictures folder, but not in iPhoto.. smile
