The iPhone Baby!!! It is the iPhone

Those earnings were amazing.  It topped and beat all of us.  Lets not forget that we can only give credit to one product for this.  The iPhone.

It is obvious given the millions sold that Apple is making a killing off this revolutionary product.

Further more just as I predicted in 07 the iPhone will create a huge HALO affect on the Mac computers.  The iPhone has brought more people into Apple stores and increased brand awareness like no other Products since the iPod which was launched in Sept 2001.

I think the economy is affecting Apple in a huge way.  If things were slightly better, we would see even bigger growth in iPhones and Mac computers.  In light of the economy the company is kicking royal ass compared to any other computer or cell phone manufacturer.

And now we get to the bottom line.  In the words of Tim Cook. “people are trying to catch up with the first iPhone which launched two years ago. “We’ve long since moved beyond that,”.  As successful as the iPhone has been, I think that Apple will blow us away with what they have in store in the next two years.

So as Droid and Pre and the rest of those new iPhone killer come out, Apple is already working on the next generation.

Great job Apple.  Keep up the good work and continue to impress and amaze us all as we watch you innovate and make us all rich. :-D

So who is the competition for smart phones:
    Nokia-Bleeding.
    Microsoft- Worse than bleeding.
RIMM- After the Storm they have wisely marked their territory as an excellent corporate business phone. I-phone can coexist quite nicely.
    Google-Verizon-whatever cell phone manufacturer.
1 They’ve waited 3 years to get to the party.
    2. Both are great corporations that have great strengths. But it is hard to imagine the two corporate cultures mixing, especially when you have to factor the hand set manufacturer into the mix.
Am I missing anyone? Can anyone see any competition?

    Collection of iPhone homescreens.

I don’t own one, tell me, is it mandatory to have the App store icon there?  If not then it really underscores the ideas presented in the articles Mace posted.

Last night I was watching my Bears get beat by the Falcons.  :-(

Up pops that droid commercial.  My friend’s 8 year old daughter is sitting on the couch by me.  She chimes into the conversation about the iPhone and future phone and points out that both of her parent’s own iPhones and that my wife and I have our own. The point she was making is that the adults have iPhones therefore they must be very good phones.  Never mind that both of my kids have their own old iPhones (unactivated) which they play with all the time.  In fact I get emails almost weekly notifying me of the new apps they downloaded.

The bottom line is that when an 8 year old recognizes a good product, you better bet your life that in 10 years she will be a Mac owner. :-D

Apple is making a killing from the iPhone, but the Halo affect is just starting to kick in.  Add more stores, lower prices, newer OS, and an improved economy, we are looking at explosive growth come 2012. 8-)

This last quarter proved that the Halo affect is starting to take place due to the iPhone.  I can’t even tell you how many friends I have seen switch to the Mac after the iPhone, and I have an even bigger number that still won’t buy a Mac, but still own an iPhone.  Give it time baby give it time. grin

You can move the Apple apps around but cannot delete them.

You can also move them OFF the front page - which these people have decided not to.

I’ve never tried it, but it may be possible (if you fill up evry screen available) to bump them in Search page land?where you can only get to them by going to the search page and entering their name. I don’t want to try it myself, since it took forever to get my apps where I want them, but if you could get them all on the last page and then move new apps (in iTunes) ahead of them on that page, they may move out of sight… or not. As i said I ‘ve not tried it.

As I said the fact that every one of these 30 screens has the App Store on it says a ton about the ecosystem that makes Apple such a juggernaut.

The always there app store & in app purchasing are both going to be very large. Familiarizing people with these transaction models with iPhone/Touch will help that ecosystem to naturally grow. iPhone Point of Sale is very convenient and saves businesses money by streamlining transactions.

There is a huge enterprise iceberg under the tip of the multitouch screen - point of sale devices supported by the secure transaction technology in QuickTime. The Tim Bajarin articles Mace linked to yesterday would support that Apple has a long-term strategy for entering that market.

You guys have discussed this here before, just not recently. Thought I’d bring it up again as I think (hope) Apple’s interest in this market will start to show soon.
