Over time, Cue’s role expanded from running the iTunes store to cutting deals to fill it. While Jobs often finalizes agreements, Cue does most of the heavy negotiations with record labels and Hollywood studios. “Eddy doesn’t have attitude. That’s part of his success,” says one former Apple insider. “In an industry with lots of big egos, he can hold his own without saying, ‘I’m the inventor of iTunes, bow before me.’ One favorite approach is for Cue to “play good cop to Steve’s bad cop,” says the ex-employee. Apple declined to comment for this story.

Eddie Cue featured on page FOUR!

That article should be good for a $10 bump in AAPL next week. All that and Apple owns Christmas too.

Times have indeed changed. It’s the week Win 7 debuts and apps grab the Business Week cover story.

I AGREE!

Read the entire story, the cover story of a ONCE dominant business magazine.

It is truly amazing. It’s like plastics in the 60s, the internet in the 90s.

It is a big deal.

I agree this is a big deal, but I’ve a small bone to pick, too. As a longtime toiler in the magazine biz, I’d like to stick up for BusinessWeek…

Source 1, BNO News: BusinessWeek is the second largest news weekly magazine in the United States and has 12 global editions. (It) has currently more than 2,700,000 subscribers.

Source 2, startribune.com (I do love coincidence): “Your World With Neil Cavuto,” a market wrap-up on the Fox News Channel, is already the highest-rated cable business show, averaging 521,000 viewing households per show over the past year. CNBC had an average of 272,000 during stock market trading hours.

So neither beats BW for eyeballs, and it’s producing the eye-opening, thought-provoking article you linked to. I like ‘em better than either, too, but obviously I’m old.

I believe BW just celebrated its 80th anniversary of pretty darn good publishing. Happy B-day!

As for Apps, most apply the term to the iPhone / Touch family. And the tablet may expand the utility of the resource. But one App I picked up lately for use on a under utilized Powerbook was Barnes and Noble eReader. Their implementation of purchasing the content doesn’t match the intuitive iTunes store however the program works well and I can now pick up that Powerbook and actually turn some pages. Here’s hoping for more Apps for the near sighted laptop crowd.
