[quote author=“iGrouch”]YoYo you have some interesting menu stuff as well.  Beside launch bar you have a mysterious icon and one further on with a stuufit icon.

The mysterious icon, next to LaunchBar, is something called MenuCalendar—a very simple calendar that never gets in the way but is always there is you need to know what day of the week June 12 2005 will be.  The StuffIt icon is part of StuffIt Deluxe.  Version 7 finally has a usable Magic Menu.

I made the desktop picture; the Hard Drive (“Mr. Quackers”) icon is from xicons.com.

Man, I took so many desktop screenshots…  Most of the wallpapers were custom made by me.

Notice the evolution of my desktop/dock/menubar.

It depends on what you look at, obviously,
But even more it depends on the way that you see

One of the pleasant surprises in 10.2 is that when using Snapperhead and your monitor goes to sleep, visitors no longer have to endure the pain and sufferring of seeing a boring black rectangle. Instead, they get the most recent image of the screen just before it went to sleep (which is a feature I know a number of people asked the developer to add, but now the OS gives for free).

I imagine the picture’s coming from Quartz Extreme’s cache of screen elements and probably needs a QE-capable computer/video card to work.

I still think Snapperhead needs a new build for 10.2, since as an additional new feature it will rarely and randomly simply stop responding to incoming requests. Quitting and relaunching the app clears that right up, though.

I think the idea of putting your display to sleep is to save the display from excess on-time. LCD backlights have a limited life span, just like phosphors on a CRT. Screensavers may be cool, but they can help lower the lifespan of your monitor.

Ha, ha.  What do you consider exciting?  I have a CD with violin concertos by John Adams and Philip Glass, and on that particular album I think they are equally exciting. smile

I guess we’re officially off-topic now.  And the thread has only been back for a few hours. Maybe we should take this elsewhere?  razz

Go Atari! Stella!! smile

Snapperhead is too much of a bandwidth-whore for me now, so it’s back to non-live screenshots.

I’m mid-project, so space gets kinda tight. How’s about one where you can actually see the desktop?
