  I’ve increased my estimate of 1st fiscal quarter iPod unit shipments to 23 million. My rationale is posted at Eventide.

  In all it’s a record-breaking quarter for Apple ahead of the release of the Apple tablet device and an expected refresh of the Mac Pro line.

  I was pleasantly surprised observing how many of the 8GB iPod nanos on display at my local Costco were purchased in the few days before Christmas. I was at Costco late on the 23rd and the displays were virtually picked clean with only a couple/few pieces remaining. On the 21st the displays were full of product.
