Help needed for survey on market research for ebook readers
Answered both surveys, but will just add a bit more here. eBook readers now compete with general-purpose tablets, much like iPods and other MP-3 players now must compete with general-purpose smartphones. Indeed, dedicated digital point-and-shoot cameras now must also compete with smartphones.
The trend is towards multifunctional devices. Why pay $200 for an eBook reader when you could get a 7” Android tablet like the Nexus 7 that does eBooks plus so much more? Likewise, why use an eBook reader if the rumored “iPad mini” comes out?
If you could tweak your surveys, I’d recommend that you add options such as, “Do you prefer a general-purpose tablet to an eBook reader?” along with radio buttons for Nexus 7, iPad, rumored iPad mini, etc. I don’t think eBook readers are competing against non-purchasers, so much as they are competing against general-purpose tablet purchasers.
Finally, Survey #2 assumes too often that those taking the survey are in college. FYI.
