Warning: OS X 10.6.3 breaks NAS compatibility
-
After weeks of begging to get a nice big NAS at work, I ordered a new 4TB Seagate BlackArmor 220. It’s the perfect solution to a problem that I’ve been working through for a couple years.
Of course, as soon as I received it, I found out that the latest update to OS X breaks compatibility with all NAS devices that use Samba as a protocol. (according to Seagate) There seems to be a problem with OS X’s use of extended attributes on some files.
Do any of you use NAS boxes with Macs? Let’s hope Apple issues a fix for this soon. I only have 30 days to figure out if I need to return this NAS for a refund.

What’s the difference between a Mac and a PC? Macs are designed, PCs are assembled.

Yep. I do. Intermittently. How can I help?
