OS Change Anxiety
-
A well known author has defined a process that people go through when they are faced with change:
Denial
Anger
Shock
Fear
Anger
Frustration
Confusion
Stress
Exploration
Creativity
Skepticism
Acceptance
Impatience
Hope
Energy
Anxiety
EnthusiasmReading the list it struck me that people go through the same stages when they upgrade their computers to a new version of Windows?ONLY BACKWARDS!
Enthusiasm ? Wow! Sounds great!
Anxiety ? Will it work when I?m done?
Energy ? Let?s dig in and give it a try!
Hope ? I?ve followed the instructions. It should work.
Impatience ? It?s 2 am! Enough already!
Acceptance ? This is going to take a few days.
Skepticism ? Maybe this wasn?t such a good idea.
Creativity ? I?ll read my email at work.
Exploration ? Has anybody else done this and had these problems?
Stress ? I have to get this thing working to get the rest of the family off my back.
Confusion - I don?t know why it doesn?t work. It could be dozens of things.
Frustration ? Every time I try something new I have to reboot for 10 minutes!
Anger - #&%*$^ Microsoft! They should test this stuff before they sell it!
Fear ? I NEED what?s on this hard drive! I?m going back to the old version.
Shock ? The new version deleted the license for my old version!!!
Anger - #&%*$^ Microsoft! They should test this stuff before they sell it!
Denial ? I needed a new computer anyway. It?s probably not Microsoft?s fault. -
Creativity ? I?ll read my email at work.
