Steve Jobs’ Health/Dinner with Obama
-
Have there been any reports regarding the perceived health of Steve Jobs by participants in the Obama dinner? I’ve been unable to find any so far.
-
I think the lack of reports is a positive thing.

Not that I know of, but I also see the lack of reports as a positive thing.
Hannibal - and I’m being serious - about the most we’ve gotten so far is a second photo from the White House event. It’s a “Where’s Steve” kind of photo. Someone’s talking with Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz, but you basically can’t see him at all.
You can check out the White House Flickr photostream.

Thanks, Steve. -
At least this photo shows his prominence in seating.

Adversity does not just build character, it reveals it.

Yup - that first photo from the event. Clearly this iCEO guy is an promising up-and-comer in American business. (/sarcasm)

If ever the SEC and the armies of enemy attorneys were watching closely, it would be now. Apple Inc. is constrained by law now as to what it can say and when, on this issue which can have drastic effects on the share price, which would be easy to do now, as the Enquirer and cohorts so ably proved. Even if their story were bogus, Apple can not appear to rebut it, or say or do anything that could be directly linked to a move in stock. I think. But if Steve wants to eat out, what can the SEC say?

I personally choose to interpret SJ’s medical leave of absence as a pre-meditated plan to prolong his career (and life, obviously). It’s similar to an aging athlete who consciously reduces minutes played or innings pitched because they know their older bodies can’t handle what their younger ones could.
How many people are told by their doctors to work less in order to reduce stress? Many decide they can’t afford to take time off and end up with heart attacks or strokes.
My guess is SJ’s doctors (oncologists & transplant specialists) probably suggested he take it easier. Fortunately, he’s gathered such a strong team of leaders at Apple, SJ can afford to take time off. And so he did.
He comes to the Apple campus when necessary and attends functions like Friday’s dinner when they’re important enough. He works at home, which presumably is a less stressful environment.
I’d much rather he works 20 hr. weeks instead of 80 hr. weeks if it means he can keep doing what he loves for another decade or two or three. I speak from experience.

But if Steve wants to eat out with the President, what can the SEC say?

The point is, Steve is still here guiding the company now and for the future. I’d say his overall effectiveness to the company hasn’t really wavered much at all - you could make the argument that Steve’s been scaling back his hours for many months now. I’d rather Apple not be the test case for material disclosures about a CEO’s health for SEC/investor disclosure purposes, but from what little we know or have heard, SJ’s still out and about. That says something.

Another apparent cell photo pic of Steve…

This photo is quite old. I saw it one or two years ago. Steve is next to former Cingular president…

I personally think he didn’t want anything to do with the launch of “The Daily”.

Agreed, even his massive reality distortion field couldn’t hide the disaster that is “The Daily”
