Finals are tomorrow. We have studied hard and the big test will be given at 1:30 tomorrow. Some of have had fights with our teachers and fellow students. A few got a few F’s along the way as options expired worthless.
Many of us invested our life savings and some. We did not fully panic with pop quizes at 326 two times and a big one yesterday at 320. Only the strong survive, so we hang on knowing with each quarter we get closer to graduation and retirement in peace.

So do we have “The Street” numbers we are going with? $5.35 of EPS on $23.3 billion of sales?

AAPL: to boldly go where no stock has gone before

Just as someone who has been silently watching here for a good many months, I wanted to just thank DT and everyone else posting here for giving me the confidence and analysis I need (and now crave) to make decisions. This place is a huge, huge, gigantic resource for me, and I just wanted to say: Thanks.
I’ll add exclamation points to that thanks after 1 p.m. PST.
In the meantime, my sincere appreciation. -
Had I been less conservative with stuff like GM, tax rate, and OpEx (i.e., what I think they’ll actually end up being - 40.2%, 24.7%, and 9.3% respectively), and more optimistic on iPad (say, 6.43 million sold this past quarter - a number which I still think is a little high given the iPad 2 sellthrough unknown), after adjusting for a more likely 937 million shares outstanding,
(Shhh!)
My mega-home-game “whisper numbers” for this quarter are $25.87B revs, about $6.46 EPS.
Those numbers are disturbingly close to ChasMac’s. I don’t know what to think about that!

I know BillH won’t be happy to see these “whisper numbers”

, but y’know, I can’t go with my gut until I run my “control” test to see what kind of AAPL bias I really have. I’m very new to the estimates game and this quarter is as good as any to establish a “baseline.”Signature

I TAKE your whisper, and RAISE you -
Ahem. Right. Whispering. Forgot about that. Sorry.

Best of luck to us all tomorrow! Onward…to glory! (Or a good cry…I think you know which one I’d prefer.)

I’m very new to the estimates game and this quarter is as good as any to establish a “baseline.”Whisper away! Truth is, I was sitting here earlier today marveling at this boards contributors ability to be so close on sales and earnings projections. I continue to believe it’s the darkest of arts but there is no denying how consistently close people really are. Truly amazing. I must also pay tribute to the fine folks at Apple who do an outstanding job of keeping their product plans and production numbers to themselves. I know it irks many here that there isn’t more transparency but I’ve always agreed with SJ that it’s a strategic necessity.
Happier than ever to be an Apple shareholder. It’s going to be a great decade.

I don’t mind being wrong…,I just hate being wrong so FAST!

Reuters has a very negative piece on Apple that just came out an hour ago.
It is full of issues regarding Japan, margins, and high volume of puts and possibly acting like google after earnings.
I find it suspicious that it is timed with their report that iPhone 5 is coming in Sept earlier in the evening.
Lots of pressure to keep our stock down :eg:

This link does not have the full story. Look for it at CNBCHere is the CNBC link but it still lacks reference to Google which was in the story on the CNBC app
