Private Capital Management and Apple

Here’s an interesting story from thestreet.com that mentions the investment habits of Bruce Sherman, president of Private Capital Management. The investment company, as of 6/30/02, holds almost three percent of Apple’s outstanding share. Mr. Sherman is well known in investment circles for buying shares in grossly undervalued companies on the cheap and making a fortune as the share prices rebound.
The quiet money managers that make a fortune buying out-of-favor stocks long before the market realizes the hidden value in the companies are taking a close look at Apple.
