Has anyone used this app? Does is have any advantages over normal iPhone or iPad syncing?

It works well for what it’s intended for (fast direct access to open areas of the iPhone’s data zones, or all areas if your iPhone is jailbroken).
It’s NOT for synching

Thanks Jeff. Yeah, I realized it wasn’t for syncing. I was mainly interested in whether (without jail breaking) you could get anything useful out of an iPhone or iPad that you can’t get by syncing. It the iOS device mounts like a flash drive, and you can poke around looking at cryptic-named files in directories. I was sort of fishing for ideas of what you could do with it
