There was some conversation a while back about Apple getting into Credit Card SERVICES using NFC technology.

Wouldn’t SIRI make a credit card transaction all that more secure, because of voice recognition (to the owner of the iPhone)?

“SIRI pay bill”.  No PINS, or cc numbers to steal.

4 years of future product development already in place.  Could a SIRI credit card terminal be in the mix?

Siri: ” check out new Facebook App, find blonde, female, age 28-30, blue eyes, slim, likes hiking, cooking, and travel, must be single, no children, lives near Pittsburgh, PA, + or - 50 miles, and check out credit scores to correlate to a 690 or higher.”

Should be FANTASTIC when the dating sites get ahold of this one!!

Yes, this is a great idea. Apple hired one of the world’s foremost experts on NFC a couple years ago and I’m sure they’ve got all sorts of stuff cooking on the NFC front.

On a different note that may not belong in this thread, I read about SIRI allowing someone to tell his/her phone to “wake me up in an hour” and SIRI would set an alarm for an hour from that moment. That is simple but extremely awesome. SIRI is going to be incredible once it becomes more developed.

Imagine the look on other’s faces when you say “SIRI pay the Bill”, and SIRI responds, “The amount to be paid is $19.37, is that correct?”, then “Would you like some cash back?”, then “All done, have a nice day dear”.

I doubt the PINS would go away.  1) Noise—One would have to be pretty confident that noise would not affect SIRI.  I used Apple speech commands for a couple years.  Noise definitely affected the function of commands.  2) Extra layer of security.

I advise not holding your breath.

Apple already applied for a patent on your idea http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2009/03/apple-files-an-enterprise-quality-biometric-security-system-patent-for-iphone.html

In some embodiments, the authentication may be operative to authenticate users based on attributes or qualities of their voices. For example, the authentication system may be operative to detect a particular voice pitch or voice signature. The authentication system may be text dependent (e.g., the user must say a particular phrase to authenticate, such as “my voice is my passport”) or text independent (e.g., any suitable words may be said to authenticate the user). In some embodiments, the authentication system may require the user to say a secret password to authenticate, thus requiring both knowledge of the user’s password and the user’s voice pitch to properly authenticate. The authentication system may include any suitable component for authenticating a user, including for example a microphone. In some embodiments, the microphone may be primarily used for other purposes (e.g., telephone communications or video conferencing).

Latest story on this suggests Apple is knee-deep in NFC payments.
