Suggestions for video capture card

  Hi There,

  I’m looking to digitise some old video tapes, preferably using iMovie. (unless anyone else has suggestions for other software)
  Would the best solution be to put a dedicated video capture card in my MacPro & feed it from the VCR using Composite/S-Video ? Can anyone recommend a card ?
  Im using MacPro 2008 running OS 10.6.8, with NVIDIA GeForce 8800 video card, 8GB RAM, 3 HDD with 4TB storage

  Using an iMac, I don’t have easy hardware upgrades! So I went the external route and got a Canopus ADVC100 (now 110). It is seen by iMovie and others as a video camera, and (for my purposes) works really well.
